How MTEC Supported the Modernization of a Hudson Valley Manufacturer

In early 2023, Inertia Switch Inc. sought MTEC’s assistance to apply for and secure a Modernization Grant from FuzeHub to support the modernization of Inertia’s testing system quality data collection and use.  With this grant, MTEC’s engineering consulting services department scoped, designed, and integrated the hardware and database system to support real time quality testing data collection for Inertia’s product line.

Inertia Switch Inc. is a full‐service Turnkey design, engineering, and manufacturing firm founded in 1950 located in Rockland County, NY. The company designs and manufactures precision acceleration switches. Their unique products serve customers in every demanding field (military, aerospace, transportation companies, etc.) and as such, repeatedly design and deliver high quality reliable products to these critical industry sectors. Their reliable performance and consistent quality have solidified their reputation, earning them a loyal customer base that includes the majority of major aerospace OEMs worldwide.

By August 2023, MTEC created a hardware interface controller that extracted data from the automated test system and stored it in a database. From that database, MTEC generated web-based reports that produced switch quality data required by Inertia’s customers. With this solution, test reports can be automatically generated and created, improving the ability to monitor testing results in real time.

Through this strategic collaboration, Inertia successfully preserved $500,000 in sales, reduced manufacturing expenses by $35,000, increased productivity by $2,500, and invested $25,000 into new equipment and manufacturing processes. David Tooker, Inertia’s Director of Quality, says that, “MTEC’s Lead Engineer, Bob Incerto, provided excellent engineering services to get us the automated information we needed for our customers. This was very valuable to Inertia because we did not have the specialized engineering service”.

At MTEC, we are dedicated to assisting businesses across the Hudson Valley, empowering them to achieve their full potential and discover greater success.
