WHO:

PK-30 System is a meticulously designed and engineered aluminum demountable wall system providing a flexible, environmentally friendly and cost effective way to divide interior space. The System can be used in widely varying configurations including sliding doors, hinged doors, pocket doors, fixed panels and operable walls, all utilizing the same narrow aluminum profiles resulting a unified design program. They provide continuity of multi-functional architectural elements, a systematic, modern, and precise design language from a single source manufacturer.

WHAT:

Over the past few years PK-30 started making plans to expand operations to accommodate the growth and demand for their products. Wanting to make sure that the new facility would be optimized for manufacturing efficiency PK-30 reached out to MTEC for their Value Stream Mapping and Manufacturing Process Improvement services.

HOW:

Working with MTEC engineer, Phil Van Oss, the Value Stream Mapping and Lean initiative training has given us a visual depiction of both our Current State process and an improved Future State process which incorporates LEAN process improvement principles. The interactive process of analyzing our Current State gave our staff the time to discover problems and realize solutions. The outcomes have served as a road map to improve our process performance and to provide an optimized manufacturing layout in our new facility. The coaching and guidance has also enabled us to use Lean manufacturing concepts to achieve focused improvements in our manufacturing process. These same principles will later be brought to bear on the future expansion of our product line offerings.
