MTEC Assists Crepini With Sales and Business Development

Crepini LLC, based in Dutchess County, New York, has been redefining the prepared foods space since its founding in 2007. What began as a small business has grown into a recognized brand across the United States and Mexico, with products like egg wraps, protein pancakes, crepes, and wrap-ups now sold online and in more than 3,500 retail stores. As the company expanded, Crepini set its sights on new product lines, including prepared meals and bakery operations, which required a stronger focus on food safety and compliance.

To support this growth, the executive director of MTEC, part of the MEP National Network™, met with Crepini to discuss strategies for sales, business development, and regulatory requirements. Crepini needed robust training to meet USDA and FDA standards while also aligning with its HACCP and Food Safety Plan. The company’s new production areas had to be integrated into its existing SQF Food Safety Certification, making employee training across all food safety aspects a top priority. MTEC’s expert third-party resource stepped in to design and deliver the necessary training.

Over the summer of 2024, Crepini completed four custom-developed training modules with support from MTEC and partial funding secured through the Workforce Development Institute, Hudson Valley Region. The sessions covered GMP, hygiene, sanitation, SQF standards, maintenance programs, internal audits, corrective actions, problem-solving, as well as leadership and conflict management training for supervisors. The results were clear: 45 jobs created or retained, $2 million in new or retained sales, and $142,000 in new investment. By investing in food safety and people, Crepini strengthened its compliance foundation and positioned itself for long-term success in an increasingly competitive market.

“Keep up the support to small and mid-businesses, it is greatly appreciated!”
