Why MTEC’s Engineering Consulting Services is the Most Comprehensive Support System for Hudson Valley Manufacturers

MTEC’s Engineering Consulting Services (ECS) is a hidden gem of invaluable assistance for manufacturers in New York’s Hudson Valley. Not only does ECS work to aid manufacturers in the region, but it helps to foster the next generation of engineers and manufacturing professionals through the internship program. This unique program serves as a satellite engineering team for many manufacturers in New York’s Hudson Valley aiding them with product development, process improvement, and more. Whether it’s an aspiring entrepreneur with a product idea they want to explore or an established company that needs to revive an existing product in the marketplace, the ECS program knows how to meet its clients where they are and take them where they need to be.

Back in 2009 during the great recession, many businesses in the Hudson Valley were shutting down due to economic pressures. MTEC’s Director of Engineering, Bob Incerto, and former Executive Director, Tom Phillips, saw how the industry in the area was suffering and knew something needed to be done. This is when the Engineering Consulting Services program was formed. MTEC gathered a group of experienced professionals that would have the necessary skills and resources to support the development of manufacturing and technology organizations.

What started as a way to reinvigorate the manufacturing and technology industries in the Hudson Valley has grown to include not only engineering consulting and solutions, but the entire scope of product development. From ideation to commercialization, MTEC can guide you through each and every step necessary to bring a product to market. The ECS team can tackle a wide array of products and projects and with electrical, computer, industrial, and mechanical engineers as part of their team, there’s very little they can’t achieve.

When someone comes to ECS with a product idea or patent, the team will assist in establishing all the necessary specifications and product functionalities. Everything from prototyping, testing, and sourcing components are nailed down together with the team. A key facet of ECS’s product development program is ensuring that a concrete business plan has been established, including target customer, expected demand, and pricing. ECS emphasizes not just making a product, but ensuring your creation doesn’t end up collecting dust and instead reaches the hands of eager customers.

The ECS is a wholly unique system, but an integral part that further sets it apart from other consulting services is its internship program. Since the early 2010’s, students from SUNY New Paltz have been given the opportunity to gain practical, professional engineering experience outside of the classroom. With mentorship from the MTEC team, these interns assist with hands-on projects in client-facing roles. In many cases, upon graduation, MTEC interns have gone on to continue working on their internship projects as actual employees at the company. To date, there have been over 50 interns to go through the program. MTEC’s Senior Engineer and Head of Engineering Consulting Services, Bob Incerto, says that the greatest source of pride from his career has been helping the next generation of engineers begin their careers while fostering the manufacturing and technology industries in the Hudson Valley.

A tenant of the Engineering Consulting Services program is that everything must be done with continuous improvement. Whether its product development, product revitalization, or manufacturing processes; there is never a shortage of improvements to be made. With a team of problem solvers who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty, the Engineering Consulting Services team will be your partner from beginning to end.

MTEC takes great pride in serving companies of all backgrounds in the Hudson Valley and helping them realize their potential while reaching new heights.
